Football: Scottish handed Premiership pardon

The Willis Cup holders were at risk of being relegated to the Championship after their reserves, who scratched three games last term, were originally banned for 2016/17 following a rule breach.

However, Island clubs voted 17-1 in favour of a change to regulations at the league’s annual general meeting, meaning top tier sides no longer need to enter a reserve team.

They also passed a separate appeal, by 14 votes to five, to allow Scottish Reserves back into the league system.
