Football: Jersey hold Clyde in pre-season clash

The hosts were undoubted underdogs for the pre-season fixture against a side managed by former Scotland captain Barry Ferguson, but they more than held their own at St Brelade to extend their unbeaten run to five games.

Campbell blasted a penalty over the bar after Rupert Murray was manhandled inside the box by Michael Oliver, and the Islanders were made to pay when Scott Linton converted from the spot at the other end following a foul by goalkeeper Jose Figueira. Cavaghn Miley responded with a cool finish just minutes later, though, and Jersey maintained their concentration throughout the second period to claim a positive result.

Reaction in Monday’s JEP.
