Cricket reaction: MacRae praises ‘incredible’ all-round performance

The hosts lifted the trophy for the second time after bowling the pre-tournament favourites out for 150 at Grainville – having set a target of 195 thanks to an unbeaten 60 from Anthony Kay.

‘It was an incredible performance today – twice – early in our innings and early in their innings,’ said MacRae. ‘We were in tough positions and the boys fought back brilliantly both times and the home support took us over the line.

‘Anthony Kay played a top innings all the way through and with important partnerships with Corne Bodenstein and Corey Bisson that got us to a competitive total.

‘Peter Gough captained superbly; the bowling changes were exactly what we needed and as the pressure grew Chuggy Perchard bowled a top spell and then the bowling combinations towards the end allowed Ben Kynman to finish them off.’

Jersey, promoted alongside Oman, will travel to Los Angeles in October for WCL Division 4.
