Football: St Clement School the best in Britain

At the home of the Premiership champions, St Clement defeated Staffordshire’s St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School 4-2 on a penalty shoot-out following a goal-less draw, to win the eight-team seven-a-side title.

St Clement are the first States school to reach the national finals and they went one step further than Victoria College Prep, who have twice been runners-up.

‘I’m so, so pleased,’ said St Clement coach Richard Heaven.

‘It’s the first time the school have ever been Jersey and South-West Regional champions – to now win the National final is unbelievable.

‘It’s been a brilliant day; the boys played really well in all of their games and in my opinion they deserved to win.’
