Jeux Des Îles 2016: Jersey’s sports confirmed

Team manager Hugh Raymond has confirmed that athletics, gymnastics, table tennis, tennis, judo and sailing will all be represented in May as the Caesareans make a return to the youth Island Games after a three-year absence.

However, with limited time for planning since January’s announcement that Jersey would be travelling, a trio of team sports – all in line for their debuts – will not feature.

‘At the moment we’re somewhere around 18 to 20 athletes, but football, rugby and volleyball have opted out,’ said Raymond.

‘It’s a shame, but I understand as everything was running so late. Both rugby and football have said they wish to stay a part of this for next year – they have been very positive.’
