Duquemin ‘honoured’ by council award

Although not able to attend in person, the 24-year-old received rapturous applause from the near-200 attendees, as he was named the winner at the council’s awards ceremony at Mimosa. His sister Shadine, also an excellent discus athlete, collected the prestigious trophy on his behalf.

Duquemin, who previously won the award for his performances in 2010, said it was an honour to be recognised by the council.

‘I’m delighted to win the award again,’ said the Rio 2016 Olympics hopeful.

‘2015 was a massive year for sport in Jersey with some incredible performances across the board so winning it this year makes it particularly special.’
