Blue Islands will diarise inter-Island sports fixtures in an attempt to reduce problems associated with team travel

BLUE ISLANDS are inviting Channel Islands clubs and associations to submit their inter-island sporting fixtures to the airline, in an attempt to ease the recent problems associated with travel between Jersey and Guernsey.
Last year the Guernsey-based company announced a codeshare agreement with Aurigny, which, in turn, reduced the number of flights between the two islands.
Since then, several sports have been forced to postpone or even cancel inter-island fixtures because of a lack of available seats or severe costs.

Recognising the difficulties, Blue Islands hope that by diarising sports fixtures themselves, they will be able to plan appropriate schedules for extreme circumstances.
Rob Veron (pictured), Blue Islands managing director, said: We know sport is a huge part of Channel Islands life, especially with so many inter-island fixtures.
As such we want to work more closely with all sports across Guernsey and Jersey to try and help with their travel requirements.
He added: With a joined up approach to travel between sporting teams across the Channel Islands, we can plan our schedules and make extra capacity available, where demand and commitment allows, to better meet the needs of the sports community.
