Netball: England stars praise standard

The 26-year-old was in Jersey last week to coach school children and Team Jets players alongside international colleague Guthrie, and as she prepares to fly out to Australia for the 2015 Netball World Cup the Waikato Magic shooter gave her stamp of approval for the work being carried out.

England shooter Harten has won over 70 caps for the national side

On the upcoming World Cup, Harten – who has won 70 caps for her country – said: ‘I really just want to get there now and get playing decent netball with our best foot forward.

‘I’m not going to say we’re going to win it because that’s not our style, but we’re not going out to lose. Obviously we’d be disappointed if we didn’t come away with a medal, but we’ll be looking to go under the radar a bit, just show what we’re capable of and see how we get on.’

With Jets well into their preparations for life in Premier League 2, Guthrie said she is hopeful they can continue to improve.

‘Every time I come back I like to do a session with them, and it’s good to see them getting better and better. They’re all committed to the new programme and the sponsorship has allowed them to train harder and be more professional. They will definitely have to step up if they want to do well again though, and I’m looking forward to seeing how they’re going to do.’
