THE Deutsche Bank Rugby Development Primary School tag festivals for Years 5 and 6 produced some thrilling games at the popular Springfield venue recently.

Played in hot and sunny conditions there was once again a World Cup theme, with each school ‘adopting’ a rugby nation.

Year 5 boys’ honours were won by the Warriors of St George’s (Namibia), who beat the Kangaroos of Rouge Bouillon (Australia) in the final, while the girls’ competition ended in a draw between St Mary’s Eagles (USA) and the the Shamrocks of La Moye (Ireland).

The other final position matches produced the following results:

Boys – 3rd and 4th: La Moye’s Pumas (Argentina) beat Bel Royal’s Dragons (Wales); 5th: Mont Nicole’s Islanders (Tonga) beat St Mary’s Pashmina Shawls (Uruguay); 7th: Springfield’s Eastern Hurricanes (Georgia) beat Grands Vaux’s Tropics (Fiji); 9th: St Lawrence’s Mini Blacks (New Zealand) beat d’Auvergne’s Knights (England).

Girls: 3rd: Rouge Bouillon’s Mini Boks (South Africa) beat Mont Nicole’s Maple Leafs (Canada); 5th: D’Auvergne’s Pacific Queens (Samoa) beat Sprinfield’s Ocks (Romania); 7th: Grands Vaux’s Kilted Warriors (Scotland) beat St Lawrence’s Roosters (France).

In the Year 6 tournaments La Moye’s Warriors (Namibia) overcame the spirited Dragons (Wales) of St Clement’s in the boys’ final, while St Mary’s Ocks (Romania) beat the Kilted Warriors (Scotland) of FCJ in the girls’ final.

Boys – 3rd: St Mary’s Islanders (Tonga) beat St Peter’s Knights (England); 5th: Mont Nicole’s Mini Blacks (New Zealand) beat Rouge Bouillon’s Kangaroos (Australia); 7th: FCJ’s Tropics (Fiji) beat St Lawrence’s Eastern Hurricanes (Georgia); 9th: D’Auvergne’s Pashmina Shawls (Uruguay) beat Grands Vaux’s Pumas (Argentina).

Girls’ Year 6 – 3rd: In an all-JCG clash, The Rising Suns of Japan beat the Gladiators of Italy; 5th: St Peter’s Pacific Queens beat Grands Vaux’s Shamrocks (Ireland); 7th: Rouge Bouillon’s Mini Boks (South Africa) beat St Lawrence’s Roosters (France); 9th: D’Auvergne’s Eagles v Mont Nicole’s Maple Leafs (Canada).
