SIMON MAUGER and co-driver Brian Cammack demonstrated once again why they are the crew to beat in the Paperclix Jersey Rally by equalling Dave Carrell’s record of five wins on Saturday.
In largely ideal conditions and watched by thousands of enthusiastic spectators they and their Escort Mk 2 were pushed hard over Friday and Saturday by last year’s winners Steve Leonard and Sion Humphries, who were forced to retire with mechanical problems in the closing stages.
Runner up and top Jersey crew, demonstrating that they are back to their very best form, were Jeremy Baudains and James Ollivro; again in an Escort Mk 2.
Third overall, in an extremely speedy Proton Millington S2500, was the UK crew of Simon Chapman and Will Rutherford Child.
The event, once again organised by the Jersey Motor Cycle and Light Car Club, provided spectators with some thrilling driving, despite the favourites emerging as winners.
