JERSEY thrower Zane Duquemin had an excellent weekend at the British Indoor Championships held in Sheffield, throwing a personal best of 18.50 metres to clinch second place.

The shot putt star’s PB was 14 cm further than third placed Rimantas Martisauskas and left him only nine cm behind gold medallist Scott Rider.

Duquemin, who is currently studying at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham, was delighted with his fine form.

‘I’m really pleased with my performance. It was the first competition of the year and in those instances, you’re never sure what to expect,’ he said.
