Selected for San Marino

The majority of the squad, who will be representing England having won the FA Inter-League Cup last April, have been training weekly since September and it is a group that will provide a lot of strength in depth.

Ben Gallichan, a former Jersey Footballer of the Year, and Jamie Savory were not involved in Saturday’s friendly against Sligo Rovers at Springfield but they, together with defenders Stuart André and James Quérée – who are both currently out of the Island – have places in the squad.

Culkin said: ‘The San Marino squad is arguably stronger than the one that faced Sligo Rovers because Chris Andrews did not play either on Saturday because of a tight muscle.

‘The players coming in will give us strength in depth and that is important because we have a tough schedule with three games in five days.’
