THE weather has scuppered the unique rugby challenge awaiting Jersey tomorrow, with the Island side’s visit to the ‘House of Pain’ being called off this morning.

The British and Irish Cup foray into Wales represented new ground for Ben Harvey’s squad, and the director of rugby has insisted on a professional build-up to the game with Pontypridd, in spite of those concerns that the trip would fall foul of the weather.

A forecast for heavy snow in Wales overnight, including a rare red weather warning from the Met Office, proved to be all too accuracte, althoughPonty’s Sardis Road ground was playable yesterday afternoon, and the match remained officially on until late morning.
