Moseley sign Evans

But the 37-year-old former Wales World Cup man, who spent 18 months with the Islanders as player/forwards coach before his sudden departure at the start of this month, would not be pushing for Jersey, but against them.

Evans, an extremely popular man around the club and Island as Jersey secured a historic promotion to the RFU Championship last season, parted company with the club after a damaging defeat away to fellow relegation strugglers Doncaster Knights left the Reds in bottom place in the division.

The former Cardiff man had not been involved in the Jersey match-day squads for several weeks when the club announced his departure.

Evans has now signed for the remainder of the this season with another club involved in the Championship relegation struggle – Moseley, who Jersey are scheduled to meet in the first match of 2013, in Birmingham, on 5 January. Evans had his first session with the Midlands club last night.
