JERSEY Rugby Club have furthered strengthened their squad as they prepare to meet the challenges of the second half of the RFU Championship.

The club have bolstered their forward options with the signing of young hooker Charlie Clare on loan from Leicester Tigers.

The hooker, who first joined the Tigers in 2008, touched down at the Airport yesterday and has initially agreed a one-month loan deal. The move follows last week’s arrival of three-quarter Matt Stelling, also on a initial month’s loan, from Worcester Warriors.

Norfolk lad Clare, taking the same route as the Young brothers to Tigers, could make his first appearance for Jersey against Leinster A in the British and Irish Cup return match this Sunday, in Dublin, which will also be his 21 birthday.
