Games spotlight

One is from Guernsey, as the Sarnians look to return to the competition, and the other from Southampton, investigating the possibility of staging a disabled games along the lines of the Island Games for able bodied sportsmen and women.

JSAD chairman Paul Patterson said:: ‘We have a couple of observers here this weekend looking at the Games.

‘Guernsey are attending with a view to possibly take part next year again and maybe look to put on a competition for themselves.

‘Paralympics journalist Andrew Heeley is also in the Island from Southampton and he is looking at the Games with a view to possibly setting up an ‘island games’ event in the future.’
