JERSEY’S Alex Buesnel made it five national titles in a row as he retained the senior men’s honour at the British Gymnastics Disabilities Open in Newcastle on Sunday.

The 20-year-old secured the top spot with four gold medal places, a silver medal and a bronze on the individual apparatus and won gold in the all round by a convincing margin.

Jersey Special Gymnastics Club team-mate Martyn Miles earned the all round senior open bronze medal and silvers on the floor and pommel plus bronze on the parallel bars and high bar.

Cailiegh Quail made a rewarding women’s senior open debut as she won the title and took golds throughout. However, it was a disappointing day for Quail as she won by default after, unusually, being the only gymnast in the category.
