Work on flood defences at Beaumont making progress

Ross Fearnley, who is leading the £680,000 14-week project, says that working on an old structure had thrown up challenges but that he was confident construction could still finish on time.

It is hoped that raising the section of sea wall between the Perquage car park and the Gunsite by a foot will help to protect the Beaumont area, which has suffered in recent years from repeated flooding.

As part of the project, workers are removing the top section of the wall to put supports in place to enable the structure to be heightened.
