Celebrating the life of a ‘free spirit’

Joy Godfray died on the eve of her 32nd birthday – Saturday 20 August – after being dragged away in stormy conditions.

The talented guitarist and pianist was paddling in the water up to her knees when she was pulled out to sea by the current. The RNLI brought her body back to shore after facing treacherous conditions, but Miss Godfray was later pronounced dead at the Hospital.

Tomorrow her family is due to mark the anniversary of her death by letting off a number of coloured balloons at Green Island.

Today, in an interview on page 6, Miss Godfray’s 20-year-old sister, Annie Noble, speaks about the impact her death has had on the family, as well as about the progress of a sea safety campaign launched in her memory.
