Letter to the Editor: Road system needs signs for tourists

By the café at La Haule slip it’s a nightmare, as the path is too narrow for bikes, prams, people and dogs, and then all the way along into St Aubin’s Village over to the Tenby past the car park, where bikes and cars alike are all over the place, even crossing the road opposite The Tenby. Tourists don’t know whether it’s a road or a pedestrian precinct. There should be a crossing or at least ‘Look Left’, ‘Look Right’ signs. It’s so busy down there in the summer. I wondered whether the bike-hire place actually tells tourists about the cycle track not being marked out and that it’s for pedestrians as well.

I think it would be a good idea to issue leaflets at the Harbour and Airport on the Jersey Highway Code, as far as cycle tracks are concerned, but also about the ‘give way’ rule which we have and the polite way of driving, like letting drivers into a queue from a side road.
