A pool of blood was left on the pavement in Mulcaster Street and a bloodied hand print was found on the side of the Town Church following the alleged incident.
States police officers arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of assault on Friday night at around 11.30 pm. He is currently on police bail.
A 66-year-old man, who is believed to have suffered injuries to his face and teeth, was taken to the Hospital’s Emergency Department in an ambulance.
