Letter to the Editor: Music at the Opera House shows is deafening

Many shows which we would otherwise have enjoyed have been spoiled for us because although the music has been good and the musicians talented, we have not been able to hear the singing.

We not only find it uncomfortable ourselves, but feel angry on behalf of the singers who have beautiful voices and spend much of their free time rehearsing for our entertainment. This is particularly distressing when the singers are children.

With the technology available today, surely a sound mixer could be in the audience ensuring that the singers were not being drowned out by the accompaniment.
