Top moonlight honours for St Peter

News | Published:

Around 15,000 people packed out Victoria Avenue last night to watch the Island's colourful and spectacular Battle of Flowers Moonlight Parade.

But there were plenty of surprises when the winners were announced with neither St Clement or The Optimists Club, who traditionally win top honours, taking home any of the prizes.

It was the parish of St Peter that went home with two of the big prizes, winning Moonlight Carnival Atmosphere, over 25, with their St Peter's Drive Thru float, and the parish's junior team took home the award for the Best Illuminated Float with their Rio-themed entry.

Trinity Juniors won Moonlight Carnival Atmosphere, under 25, with Down the Chocolate River and Grouville won Best Illuminated Float, over 25, with Rapscallion.

An impressive display of fireworks ended this year's two-day Battle of Flowers event with plenty of spectators saying it was the best year yet.

This year's Miss Battle was 18-year-old Evie Bertram and former EastEnders and Dance Dance Dance star Jonny Labey took part in the parade as Mr Battle.
