One of Victoria Avenue’s last open spaces to be built on?

The entrepreneur behind the Tamba enterprises, Jonathan Ruff, has submitted a new proposal to build two four-bedroom houses to the rear of three properties on St Aubin’s Inner Road – Milden House, Alma and Alma Cottage.

A previous application was approved by the Planning Committee but a neighbour lodged a successful third-party appeal which was subsequently supported by Environment Minister Steve Luce.

Mr Ruff said: ‘The new application has taken neighbours’ concerns, and the appeal judgment comments, into consideration and we have worked around that.

‘We have now got two better properties off the back of that so it was a worthwhile process.’

The proposed development would replace derelict outbuildings in an overgrown garden currently surrounded on three sides by houses.

Mr Ruff says the plans have been revised and improved because of the comments made by the UK Planning inspector who heard the appeal.

Instead of two semi-detached houses the proposed properties would be separated by a gap which would provide a view over St Aubin’s Bay for the neighbours behind. And the overall size of the development has been scaled back.
