Body found in sea is that of French fisherman

A search operation involving the Channel Islands Air Search plane, Guernsey Coastguard, the RNLI and Guernsey Police was launched on 25 May after the crew of a passing yacht reported seeing a body about nine nautical miles south-west of Guernsey’s Hanois Lighthouse.

It was recovered later in the day.

Following an investigation, it has been confirmed the body is that of 48-year-old fisherman Arnaud Goregues. He was reported missing on 7 April after going fishing on his boat, Marina Flower.

The empty vessel ran aground later that day on Nantouar beach in Louannec, on the north Brittany coast.

Guernsey Law Enforcement are now awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination.
