Out-of-control dog charge dropped

However, Jane Ann de la Haye (49), of Green Road, has been told that the dog, named Bradley, will have to be permanently kept on a lead and muzzled when in public following a civil representation brought by the parish of St Clement.

The Magistrate, Bridget Shaw, said at the first hearing that it was alleged Mrs de la Haye’s dog had bitten another dog and caused injury.

During the defendant’s initial appearance last month, Advocate Christopher Austin entered a not-guilty plea on her behalf to the criminal charge, which has now been accepted by the prosecution.

The court heard that compensation had been paid following the incident, but no further details were given.

The Assistant Magistrate, Peter Harris, said that the public needed to be protected from the dog, which is owned by Mrs Bradley’s husband, Paul Bradley, who appeared alongside her to answer the representation.

Mr Harris said the representation was designed to protect the safety of people as well as other dogs.
