Putting on the style

The pair feature on a list of high profile celebrities who are due to receive honours at the event next month which also aims to highlight local talent across several sectors including High Street Retailer of the Year and Tastemaker of the Year.

Dame Shirley is set to be inducted into the ‘Style Hall of Fame’ at the awards ceremony while Mr Macdonald will collect the Womenswear Designer of the Year award. Meanwhile, Melissa Odabash is set to receive the Beachwear Designer of the Year award and male supermodel Jacey Elthalion is to collect the Style Icon 2017 award.

Islander Sir David Kirsch is also due to be recognised with a Philanthropist of the Year award for his generosity towards senior citizens in the Island.

The awards also celebrate Jersey across 11 categories, featuring 48 local nominees.

Event founder Dr Tess Hartmann, who set up the Scottish Fashion Awards, said the event was an opportunity for Jersey to be known for more than its finance industry. She added that is was fantastic so many high-profile names had agreed to attend the event.

The Style Awards are due to be held on Saturday 24 June at the Royal Jersey Showground.
