Man grabbed hammer to smash up car, court is told

Darren John Brown (44), went into Victoria Street at 6.20 pm on 17 April carrying the hammer. He proceeded to smash windows of the car, the windscreen and also caused damage to doors. The cost of the damage amounted to more than £2,100. Brown admitted a charge of causing malicious damage and is due to be sentenced next month.

Advocate Debbie Corbel, defending Brown, said that her client had apologised for what had happened and was in contact with the car owner about arranging to pay compensation.
