Ferry trial cancelled as Guernsey pulls out

Economic Development Minister Lyndon Farnham has announced that since Guernsey’s Committee for Economic Development has been unable to find the money to back their share of the scheme, the trial has been deferred.

He said he was disappointed but ‘determined’ to improve inter-island passenger links, as he said they were important for developing both islands’ economies, and to maintain social and cultural links. He added that, as a result, discussions would continue with Condor and the States of Guernsey on possible future options.

The islands had been considering using the 41-seater Gardian 14 ferry to run the service.
