Sheila Rice (85), who broke her hip three weeks ago, was forced to cancel her birthday lunch after she was taken back to the Hospital with complications from her injury.
On learning that Mrs Rice, a resident at Maison St Brelade care home, would be spending her birthday in a hospital bed in the emergency assessment unit, staff decided to treat her to a surprise.
