Terror threat: Jersey police to be more visible

Home Affairs Minister Kristina Moore said there was no suggestion of a direct threat to Jersey following Monday’s attack but said that authorities would remain ‘vigilant’.

Jersey maintains the same threat level as the UK because it is part of the Common Travel Area – an area of free movement between Great Britain, Ireland and the Crown Dependencies.

Critical is the highest possible threat level and means that a terror attack is ‘expected imminently’.

‘Ministers are being kept informed about the raised terror threat level in the UK through the States police, who continue to take part in daily regional and national briefings,’ said Deputy Moore.

‘Police officers will maintain higher visibility in town and firearms officers will be more evident at the Airport. I would like to reassure Islanders that we are working proactively with UK colleagues to ensure the continued safety of the Island.’
