States expect 7,000 will miss tax return deadline

It is expected that between 11,000 and 12,000 taxpayers will hand in their forms this week but those who miss tomorrow’s 6 pm deadline face a £250 fine.

Assistant Comptroller Chris Le Breton said: ‘If anyone is unsure about how to complete the return, they should consult the States website where they will find a helpful and straightforward video guide.

‘Anyone who has not yet submitted their tax return must ensure they do so by 6 pm this Friday if they wish to avoid a late-filing penalty of £250.’

It is expected that about 7,000 forms will not be submitted on time – equating to a maximum of £1,750,000 in fines.

A spokesman for the Taxes Office has now told Islanders who have not yet submitted their forms to instead visit Cyril Le Marquand House to hand them in person.
