Former town nightclub could be turned into flats

JAJ Properties Ltd, owned by entrepreneur Jonathan Ruff, has submitted proposals to transform the former Nikita nightclub in Castle Street into studio apartments.

Last year the club had its liquor licence revoked for repeatedly breaching regulations and failing to work with the authorities to rectify its problems.

The existing site consists of a nightclub over three floors with a two-bedroom unit on the top floor.

Under the plans, two studio apartments would be created on the first and second floors while the existing unit on the third floor would be renovated.

It is also proposed to create a restaurant or cafeteria in the ground floor of the building.
