The soundtrack to our Liberation celebrations

The popular event has grown over the years and now regularly features world-class musicians and talented local performers.

After the success of the opening event on Saturday, Portrait of a Royal Ballet Star, the festival was due to continue on Liberation Day with the Musical Walk between Ouaisné and St Brelade.

On Friday renowned musicians Maxim Rysanov (viola), Alexander Sitkovetsky (violin) and pianist Wu Qian will be at the Opera House performing chamber music, including Schubert’s uplifting The Trout and Brahms’ Piano Quartet in G-minor.

The Opera House opens its doors on the following night to host the Jersey Chamber Orchestra, who will be performing one of the most well-known pieces of classical music, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Counter-tenor Lawrence Zazzo is among the soloists who will be performing Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater and the show’s finale will be Geminiani’s ‘La Follia’ Concerto Grosso. Closing the festival will be the popular Jazz at Hamptonne event on Sunday, where hundreds of people are expected to descend on the Jersey Heritage site in St Lawrence.

The headline act will be Ray Gelato and his band, who are joined on the bill by several other artists, and entertainment includes a display of classic Italian cars, inflatables for children and a balloon magician.
