Staff pay tribute to ‘lovely’ Ana

Ana Rebelo (51), who was found dead on 4 April, has been described as ‘happy and bright’ and a person who would do ‘anything for anyone’ by the manager at Highlands Care Home where she worked as a kitchen porter for seven years.

The Portuguese national was killed by ‘compression to the neck by a third party’. A murder investigation continues and a 58-year-old man remains on police bail.

Merissa Kenny, home manager at Highlands Care Home, said all the staff and residents had been ‘devastated’ by Mrs Rebelo’s death. She added that employees from all of the Brighter Kind care homes, which includes Silver Springs, La Haule and Highlands, had donated money to a fund to pay for the repatriation of Mrs Rebelo’s body to Portugal.

‘She was a really lovely member of staff and will be greatly missed by the staff and the residents. Our thoughts are with the family,’ she added.
