Senator Lyndon Farnham said that Jersey needs to find a balance as soon as possible between managing its population and allowing businesses to recruit the staff that they need to grow the economy.
And the minister added that he fears that the growth of businesses, in particular those outside of the finance sector, could be damaged unless the States takes action to address the matter.
Senator Farnham said that he has raised the matter with other politicians but if a proposition was to be lodged he said that it would need to be drawn up by the Chief Minister’s Department, which has responsibility for population.
