Mole check training class proves popular

The training, organised by the Donna Annand Melanoma Charity, was undertaken to highlight the importance of early diagnosis in combating skin cancer.

The training was delivered by Di Rolland, the clinical nurse specialist in dermatology at the Hospital, who has worked in dermatology in Jersey for 25 years and is the secretary of the British Dermatology Nursing Group.

Kerry Petulla, chairwoman of the charity, said the training – held on Sunday at the Radisson Blu Hotel – was a great success.

‘There were 96 people at the training session and Sister Di Rolland showed them how to identify moles and what to look for.

‘Everyone said the training had been fantastic and it should help with the early diagnosis of skin cancer,’ she said.
