New plans for home for Islanders with learning difficulties

The Jersey Homes Trust has submitted proposals to demolish the former farm complex L’Industrie in Samarès Lane and to build a 25-bedroom home in its place.

Health Minister Andrew Green has welcomed the plans, saying that the specialist facility would help to meet an expected growing demand for nursing-home beds for people with complex needs.

If approved, the home would be run by Les Amis, a charity which works with people with learning difficulties.

‘Jersey has very limited capacity in long-term nursing care for adults with complex needs. These individuals are often delayed in hospital due to there being no appropriate long-term care for them in the Island.’
