Sacked St Helier coxwain lodges his appeal

RNLI staff who were not involved in the decision to effectively sack Andy Hibbs will now begin an investigation and try to reach a verdict on whether or not Mr Hibbs was dismissed fairly.

The organisation has said that it is not known how long it will take to conclude the process but that they would ‘endeavour to be as quick as possible’.

Two weeks since Mr Hibbs was dismissed, the 25-strong crew of the lifeboat station have still not returned to their positions and have vowed to stand by their coxswain.

A full-time, paid interim crew brought in from the UK are currently manning the base.
