Hospital funding could be approved this week

Treasury Minister Alan Maclean has urged States Members to back his ‘sensible and balanced’ solution and not raid the Island’s rainy day fund instead.

After months of political debate, scrutiny and a false start in January when the House shelved the debate pending further work, politicians were today due to begin debating the Treasury Minister’s proposals to borrow £400 million and an alternative funding strategy put forward by the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel to use the Strategic Reserve, which is also known as the rainy day fund.
