Dead woman to be named today

A UK Home Office pathologist travelled to the Island yesterday to carry out a post-mortem examination on the body, which was found inside 10 Victoria Street, near St Thomas’ Church, at around 10.50 am on Tuesday.

A 58-year-old man last night remained in custody at Police Headquarters on Route du Fort after being arrested on suspicion of murder.

He was questioned by detectives on Tuesday after being arrested at 2.50 pm.

Detective Superintendent Stewart Gull has confirmed that the victim and the suspect were known to each other but would not divulge their relationship.

The States police were due to release the victim’s identity yesterday but delayed the announcement until the post-mortem examination had been completed.
