States Members attend cyber security conference

Senator Philip Ozouf and Deputy Scott Wickenden, who has responsibility for the States ‘e-gov’ IT modernisation project, have joined more than 90 representatives of dozens of other jurisdictions to discuss the growing issues of terrorism and cyber crime.

Earlier this week States chief executive John Richardson said during a Scrutiny hearing that he considered cyber crime to be the ‘biggest risk’ to the Island’s £10 million e-gov project, which aims to centralise States records from different departments and create a digital ‘people register’ containing records of all Islanders.

It is hoped that as the e-gov programme is rolled out over the next few years Islanders will be able to access information such as their health and tax records through a single online ‘portal’ website.
