Training to help spot skin cancer

The training, which has been organised by the Donna Annand Melanoma Charity to highlight the importance of early diagnosis in combating skin cancer, is due to take place in April.

Jersey has long been labelled the skin cancer capital of Britain due to the high number of Islanders who are diagnosed with malignant melanoma – the most dangerous form of skin cancer – each year.

The unique training event, open to physiotherapists, pharmacists, hairdressers and beauticians, as well as other medical and industry professionals, will be delivered by Sister Di Rolland, the clinical nurse specialist in dermatology at the Hospital, who has worked in dermatology in Jersey for 25 years and is the secretary of the British Dermatology Nursing Group.

The event, sponsored by Orchard Chiropractic Centre – a chiropractic and health centre – is due to be held on Sunday 23 April from 11 am to 2 pm at the Radisson Blu Hotel.
