Lesson with musical twist as rapper returns to old school

But lessons at Victoria College took a musical twist yesterday when a former student dropped by to teach Year 7, 8 and 9 classes.

Christian Foley, a spoken-word artist who combines poetry with hip-hop, can usually be found working with young people in Hackney.

However, the 25-year-old Islander returned to his former school as part of its Lifelong Learning programme, teaching history, French and physics classes.

Mr Foley, who is signed to Kompyla Records and is due to release his second EP later this year, admitted that it was strange returning to the classrooms he had once sat in.

Mr Foley is due to visit other Island schools later this year and is to perform at the Reasons to be Grateful event at Howard Davis Park on Sunday 30 April.
