Flags fly at half mast in tribute to victims of Westminster attack

The Bailiff, William Bailhache, has written to the Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow, to express the Island’s sympathy following the atrocity.

Chief Minister Ian Gorst and Senator Philip Ozouf, who in his previous role as Assistant Chief Minister was regularly in London for business, paid tribute to the victims on social media.

The States police, who flew the flag on the new Route du Fort police station at half mast, also offered their ‘heartfelt condolences’ to the family of PC Keith Palmer, who was stabbed to death outside the Palace of Westminster.

The Island’s Special Branch unit said that they were in daily contact with forces in the UK about the terrorist situation.
