The stall, called ‘Just Jerseys’, is expected to open on the edge of the market piazza on the weekend of 22 and 23 April, with Royals due to be dished up with a combination of Jersey butter, mint and flakes of Jersey sea salt, plus a choice of three dips, for a cost of £3 per portion.
Mr Doherty first became famous as Jamie Oliver’s best friend and has since been the subject of the BBC’s Jimmy’s Farm series in his own right. He now presents food-related programmes for Channel Four, including Jamie & Jimmy’s Friday Night Feast.
John Garton, an executive director of Jersey Product Promotion Limited, which markets the Royal in the UK, said that they try to do something different to promote the potato each year.
