Plan for 31 affordable homes at Minden Place is approved

Last September, the Planning Committee rejected plans by the charity Christians Together in Jersey to build the five-storey development at 1-2 Minden Place after some panel members raised concerns about the lack of parking and the decision to use a brick finish.

However, the development, which is expected to cost more than £5 million and will involve the demolition of the former Scope furniture shop, has now been granted approval by Environment Minister Steve Luce.

His decision comes after an independent planning inspector from the UK found that the scheme should be given the go-ahead due to the benefits it would provide in terms of social housing and public realm improvements.
