Dog minder issues a poison warning after a walk at Beauport

Zeffrienne D’ulivo-Rogers (18) was left fearing for the dog’s life when he began howling and biting his back legs in St Brelade minutes after returning from the walk.

The dog, which she is caring for until a permanent home is found, was taken to the vet, where he needed sedatives and antihistamine drugs.

The two-year-old, called Wyatt, was lethargic for several days after the incident but has since made a full recovery.

Miss D’ulivo-Rogers, who works at Classic Kennels, said: ‘I kept Wyatt outside when we first got home from the walk and he was barking a lot, so I decided to let him back into the house. He started acting really strangely and running around the house, which was out of character because he is normally quite a calm dog.

Miss D’ulivo-Rogers said that a number of other dog walkers had been in contact with her since the incident, saying that their dogs had also been sick. She said that she was now put off walking around Beauport Common with Wyatt.
