Efforts stepped up as search goes on for missing pensioner

Land, sea and air searches were launched after 75-year-old Valerie Jehan disappeared near Devil’s Hole on Friday afternoon.

The States police have been co-ordinating the rescue efforts, which have involved two lifeboats, the Channel Islands Air Search plane, a French coastguard helicopter, Jersey Search and Rescue volunteers and the Fire and Rescue Service.

Chief Inspector Chris Beechey has said that the chances of finding Mrs Jehan alive were now getting slimmer.
