Sir Vince gets on his bike to plug new hire scheme

LibertyBus has joined forces with folding-bicycle manufacturer Brompton to create the LibertyBike initiative, which lets people hire the bikes for 24-hour periods.

The bus company has installed 12 Brompton bikes in electronic lockers at Liberation Station and each bicycle is named after one of the Island’s 12 parishes.

Transport Minister Eddie Noel said: ‘The scheme is part of our sustainable transport policy. It will encourage Islanders and visitors to explore the Island a bit more without their car.

‘People can, for instance, pick up one of the bikes at the bus station and cycle to one of the four corners of the Island. They can then cycle back or take a bus and carry their LibertyBike onto the bus with them.’
